OPENFOCUS OFFERS REAL-TIME OPINION TRACKING CAPABILITY FOR LIVE STREAMING VIDEO

Online and Mobile Platform Can Transform Your Next Online Broadcast Into a Focus Group

Los Angeles, CA—Merging the trends of online audience feedback and the real-time web, today’s launch of OpenFocus will allow anyone to easily transform their next online broadcast into a focus group.

Built to be paired with online live streaming video providers like UStream.tv, Livestream or Justin.tv, OpenFocus, a product produced and distributed by political technology firm REALPOLITECH, introduces a new method of data capture and interactivity for those trying to gain feedback from an online audience. Using a combination of webcast and custom opinion-tracking technology, OpenFocus is an online and mobile tool that allows users to track the opinions of their audience to drive their decision-making. OpenFocus gives users access to data collected from targeted audiences in real-time in three ways: through use of the online platform, the use of a mobile device, like the iPhone or iPod Touch, or a hybrid model incorporating both.

“OpenFocus has the capability to capture opinions in a dynamic way. In the political and citizen engagement space, particularly, OpenFocus will allow users, whether political candidates, elected officials or government agencies, to be informed about the needs and desires of their constituents,” comments Christina Gagnier, OpenFocus Co-Founder and CEO of REALPOLITECH. “The volume of people who participated in The White House’s social media offerings during President Obama’s State of the Union Address demonstrates the demand of people to be heard in an authentic way.”

OpenFocus was developed in response to an interactive deficit faced with the current methods of polling and survey methods that are used in audience research today. The OpenFocus team wanted to harness the power of the real-time web, capturing audience feedback while they are “in the moment,” watching a live broadcast. The platform’s customizable features makes it a flexible tool for a variety of purposes, whether for politics, a town hall or to rate entertainment content.

OpenFocus is currently available at http://openfoc.us. Watch a video demonstrating how OpenFocus can be used at http://vimeo.com/8710030/.

A Glimpse at the Advantages of Real-Time Web

From the ReadWriteWeb case study:

“I used to get hit by Stumbleupon and [the site] would start to crawl. Then I changed to some of this real time stuff and I’ve reduced the number of servers. Instead of the users sitting on the page and refreshing, I push it out to them. My EC2 bill has gone way down.” Roden’s experience compliments the story that Google’s Brad Fitzpatrick told us about using PubSubHubbub push feeds to deliver shared items in

Why Getting Data Instantaneous is Important in Today’s Landscape

From the article at Wired.Com:

It’s a funny story, but it illustrates how the Web is changing. People increasingly turn to the Internet for up-to-the-minute information about, well, everything—blog postings about celebrity antics, status updates from friends, and pictures and videos of political events as they unfold, like the protests over the Iranian election. Studies have shown that these types of search requests are on the rise.
